Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The Carnival of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria that is celebrated in the city of the same name (Las Palmas of Great Canary), is the popular holiday of major rooting and one of them more multitudinous of the municipality of the capital of the island of Great Canary (Canaries, Spain) and one of those of major relevancy of country and of world. In the holidays there is celebrated the Show of Choice of the Queen and the Show of Choice of the Drag Queen of the Carnival. The latter began in 1998: it was precisely the carnival of the capital grancanaria the first one and the only one of Spain in including the above mentioned modality. They take part actively of each of the acts that organize the lees, both masculine and feminine, and the extras, putting the pace of batucada so typically of the carnival. The principal scene of the Carnival is placed in the Park Holy Catalina. The citizens' massive participation in the Great Cavalcade, the Spongers and the Burial of the Sardine - closing of the celebration - have contributed of form emphasized to the success of the Carnival of this city.
